Emily in Paris: A New Gateway to Brand’s Success

Emily in Paris is a Netflix Romantic comedy-drama series that was first released in 2020. The first season was streamed 58 million worldwide, followed by season two becoming the most-watched show of 2022 on Netflix. The first half of season four reached 19,9 million views in four days from its release.

The main character Emily Cooper (played by Lilly Collins), a temporary social-media strategist of Savoir, a French fashion firm, has become a median in launching several trends, resulting in a hike in the sales of brands like Rimowa, Celine, Fendi, JW Anderson, Ganni, Jacquemus, Chopard, Vivienne Westwood, Ralph Lauren, Celine, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, Miu Miu, Christian Louboutin and even more. The show also supports emerging brands in luxury along with the resale channel Vestiaire Collective. The show’s current audience includes Gen Z, millennials as well as fashion followers and style-minded shoppers.

Season One

Emily was seen in Veronica Beard’s Millen Dickey checker jacket and shorts paired with Chanel’s Iridescent lambskin quilted bag. She also was wearing a Furgora bucket hat from Kangol, a Sandro mini skirt, an Eiffel tower-featuring Alice+Olivia blouse, Aldo bag, Chanel Tweed jacket, Aigle Malouine Wellington boots, and Off-White’s Puffer coat and floral mini dress.

Her Audrey Hepburn-inspired look was fulfilled by the strapless black dress from Christian Siriano, Agnelle gloves, jewels from La Compagnie du Costume, and Cosmoparis Jordann Pumps. She was in an MSGM 2013 floral coat, Fendi sock boots, and Kate Spade’s Nicola Twistlock shoulder back when she visited Pierre Cadualt at home. The season also features Vivienne Westwood’s Ankle Boot, and Marc Jacobs’ The Jelly Snapshot camera bag.

Season Two

Season two presented the products such as Emily’s Green Overshirt from Zara, Camille’s Balmain Collarless Military Crepe Jacket, Zara’s wide-leg pants, Patau high-waisted belted trouser and woven bucket bag along with Nike 54MM Butterfly Sunglasses. Sylvie (played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) was wearing an Aprsfn double-breasted purple coat, Eliza’s black lace dress, and a Valentino Garavani Alcobe box bag.

Emily was spotted in a Balmain skirt with Boohoo red ruffled crop top and Mark Cross’s bag along with Rotate pink bow dress, Hutch’s bow dress, and Balmain’s Black And White Off-The-Shoulder Dress. Another scene featured Emily in Magali Pascal Botanic dress and Carel Scoubidou bag, Mindy Chen (played by Ashley Park) in Banana Republic’s Yellow Ruffles top, MSGM Fringed-edge tweed shorts, Roger Vivier’s Miss Vivier Raffia Strass buckle bag, and Camille (played by Camille Razat) in Valentino blazer, and Roger Vivier’s Viv' Rangers Strass Stitch Leather Loafers. Emily was also riding a classic Vespa 946 Christian Dior, launched in 2012.

In another scene, Emily was clothed in Missguided lilac boots, Alice+Olivia’s Yellow blazer, River Island’s Checkered top, and Dolce & Gabbana’s Crossbody bag. The season also showcased Neiman Marcus, Everlane, Maje, Self-Portrait, Christian Louboutin, Casetify camera phone case, Skinnydip, Mansur Gavriel, and AZ Factory.

Season Three

Season Three had more experimentative looks including Emily’s Germanier handmade knit sleeveless jacket and skirt with Celine neon green bag along with black and blue dramatic-sleeved Rotate dress, Zebra print jacquard jacket of Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2002 collection and Miu Miu spring 2022 cotton shorts; Mindy’s Donna dress from Cult Gaia and Balmain’s black-gold mini dress; Julien’s Louis Vuitton Damier checked denim jacket and Edwin shirt.

Emily was seen in Anorak jacket and leggings from La Double J, printed short jacquard dress from Balmain, Magda Butrym’s rose-printed blazer, Giuseppe di Morabito mini dress combined with a purple coat from Iris Apfel x H&M, multicolored blazer of Mira Mikati, Giambattista Valli’s Fall 2019 floral ruffled gown, Roger Vivier PVC and suede heels, orange ruffle bottom tunic of Iris Apfel x H&M, Yké basket bag from Polène, Livy’s Eclipse Bandeau bralette with Barbara Bui pre-fall 2017 blazer, Vivienne Westwood scarf tied on its handle with Zeus+Dione sunglasses and Mark Cross Madeline 21 bag. Mindy wore a Dolce & Gabbana embroidered bralette, Mugler neon bodysuit, Versace spring 2022 turquoise leather blazer, Jean Paul Gaultier beret, Comma mini bag from GCDS, Cape Robbin’s blue Kelsey 21 boots, Jitrois Melina crop trench coat, red Versace La Medusa bag, palm tree-printed green suit of Danamé Paris with a mint bag of Louis Vuitton and Elisabetta Franchi sequin crop top-skirt set.

Camille was clothed in a Jacquemus La Robe Biasi dress, Schiaparelli’s Anatomy Cardigan jacket, jacket from Balmain pre-fall 2022, Celine jeans, LGR Oasi coolers, Louis Vuitton crossbody and La Veste blazer. Sylvie had a red Proenza Schouler floral dress and a Vivienne Westwood dress from its 2025 fall collection.

Season Four

Season Four had Emily in bossy looks such as Argent’s two-button blazer and wide-leg trouser, Sam Edelman Mandey western boots, an Essentiel Antwerp shoulder bag as well a House of Harlow blazer, JW Pei Joy Shoulder bag, Ralph Lauren Classic fit stripe shirt, and L’Academie x Marianna Danelea Cropped Vest. As an homage to Audrey Hepburn in “Charade” à la Collins, Lily Collins (who played the role of Emily Cooper) borrowed the original pair of Pierre Marly sunglasses from the actress. The pink and green combo dress of Emily is made of Jacquemus's pink La Maille Pralu cardigan, Kate Spade's New York Manhattan Gingham tweed tote and Lulu & Co’s Make a Move Green Satin Floral Jacquard Strapless Midi Dress. She was also featuring Helly Hansen Lilja Raincoat, Isabel Marant ‘70s Corduroy miniskirt, Silvia Tcherassi purse, Brixton Fiddler Fisherman Cap, M.M. LaFleur Katari coat, and Cleo + Wolf Sherpa crossbody bag.

The season also promotes Vestiaire Collective with many scenes set at one of its stores integrated into Mindy Chen’s plot line. Mindy was witnessed in a few vintage pieces such as a vintage Balmain blazer, pink Balmain dress, Germanier bag, and archival Thierry Mugler dress, showing support for the second-hand fashion industry. This has sparked a sales hike in the resale sector, thanks to the show’s huge audience base of around 60 million viewers.

Other brands that were featured in the season are Coperni, Vaillant, Germanier, Miu Miu, Pushbutton, Thom Browne, Maison Rabih Kayrouz, Missoni, Tod's, Delvaux, Kate Barton, Magda Butrym, Do Manh, and Sixdo.

Collaborative Collections

Michel Germain Parfums partnered with Paramount Consumer Products to release a set of four men’s and women’s fragrances inspired by Emily in Paris during the season 4 release. In the season 3 launch, footwear label Malone Souliers launched a men’s and women’s capsule collection that embodies the ‘spirit of joie de vivre’ of the show with Paramount Consumer Products. Dododots, a Malaysian beauty brand, dropped a pimple patch collection in partnership with the show. Revolution introduced a makeup collection of makeup and accessories influenced by the main character Emily Cooper. Kipling collaborated with the series to launch seven Emily Cooper style-inspired cross bodies and mini bags. Spectrum Collection teamed up with it to launch a cosmetics collection in the same color palette as the show during the second season. Lancôme released a Très Magnifique Makeup Collection in alliance with the series in October 2021. Filipino-based brand Plains & Prints showcased their Emily-in-Paris-themed collection of closet pieces from Emily Cooper.
