COS explores responsibly-sourced fabrics for FW20
Focusing on sustainability, the COS' FW20 collection utilizes environmentally friendly fabrics while paying attention to reusing, repurposing and recycling. Materials are made of plastic waste from the ocean, and zero-waste folding techniques are applied to leather bags. Recycled nylon is seen throughout in lightweight pouches, while boots are crafted with chrome-free leather and accessories feature recycled silver and quartz.
 
COS to launch the resell service
To reach sustainable commitment, COS plans to launch the resell service. 
According to the information from its website, 'COS Resell offers a conscious, convenient way to shop for preworn COS pieces. Through Cos Resell, you can purchase from a collection of preloved styles, direct from the owner. Explore timeless pieces from previous seasons, designed to last for many more.'
 
H&M group to close 170 stores this year
H&M Group, which also includes brands such as COS, Weekday and Monki, is to permanently close 170 stores in total, in a move that could result in hundreds of job cuts. The chain said it's shifting its focus to online after sales fell 50% during the pandemic. In a company statement, H&M said it saw a 23% net decrease in sales for the first half of the year and a 50% decrease in sales for the second quarter.

The reshuffle at COS
The biggest leadership change since COS was launched in 2007. First is the brand’s Head of Communications, Atul Pathak, and finance and operations director Michael Marth and second is Managing Director Marie Honda, who has held her position for eight years, shifts into a new role within the H&M group and will be replaced by Arket’s Managing Director, Lea Rytz Goldman.
