Topshop reshapes buying and merchandising teams

The move is part of Arcadia Group's plans to axe around a fifth of its head office staff, resulting in the loss of around 500 of its 2,500 employees. Staff were placed into consultation on 1 July.
There are currently approximately 140 employees across Topshop buying and merchandising. The group plans to reduce this to around 50 roles on buying and 50 roles on merchandising.

The consultation is expected to finish at the end of August.

Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group is also restructuring its buying, merchandising and design teams, resulting in around 20 redundancies.
Since the coronavirus pandemic began, there have been around 18,700 redundancies announced across fashion retail.
