The fourth day Swimwear trade show is taking place in Miami, and this edition is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Swimwear Association of Florida. The Swimwear business is frequently ignored, but it is important to know that NPD Gropu reported on 2011 $4.1 billion sales, and there was an increase of 5% from 2011 to 2012.
Without a doubt, during this edition the novelty is that more product related categories are having presence on the trade-show, this means that brands with collections of eyewear, hats and boat shoes got involved. Together with these fashion brands like Laundry, Sperry Top-Sider, Oakley, BCBG Max Azria, Adidas and Paul Frank are planning to introduce their swimwear collection in 2013.
Together with the trade show the Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Swim was the platform for more than 32 key designers, from Ausralia to Brazil, some of the brands participating on the event were La Perla, Eclairee, Trina Turk, Calavera, Franklin & Marshall Srl and Poko Pano.
The Swimwear brands reported that in addition to swimwear there was a hughe demand from buyers of the Cover-ups, or commonly known "pareos", apparentely the main reason is because not many brands have focused on them, so the scarcity makes them very valuable for buyers.
