The L'OCCITANE story begins in 1976 with a young Olivier Baussan, who dreamed of sharing the sensoriality of his native Provence with the world. A year later, lavender was the first ingredient harvested by L'OCCITANE, followed in 1980 by shea butter, which would both become iconic for the brand. The first L'OCCITANE boutique opened in 1981 in Provence, joined over the next six years by openings in Paris, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. As the company grew internationally, the product offering expanded with the launch of the Verbena collection in 1990, then Immortelle skin care in 2002. In 2006 the L'OCCITANE Foundation was incorporated, with missions to support the blind and the economic emancipation of women. To further its environmentally conscious efforts, in 2009 eco-refill packaging was introduced. In 2012, L'OCCITANE products are available in over 200 countries, and our 2,000th boutique opened in Italy.Brand Details
