Mehtap Elaidi was born in 1981. She graduated from the Business School at Boğaziçi University. After she worked on maritime law for 10 years, Elaidi opened a boutique with her friends in Mayadrom. She then became a designer and opened her own brand boutique in Nişantaşı.
