Lily and Lionel is about family. The brand is named after Creative Director Alice Stone’s grandparents, the ones who established her family’s history of working in the textile industry. Lily was a dressmaker, with a strong talent for designing and creating all of her own clothes; Lionel supplied apparel to some of London’s most glamorous boutiques and stores. After graduating from the London College of Fashion, Alice set about making her own mark on the textiles industry with a line of iconic printed scarves. Each and every print that you see on our scarves tells a story and has been hand-picked because it resonates with us in some way. Perhaps it was inspired by our favourite painting, a photo we took on holiday, a vintage print found in a market. By combining that with the very best textiles, from the moment you wrap yourself up in your Lily and Lionel scarf you are enveloped in comfort and meaning. Light weight and soft in texture, Lily and Lionel scarves bring the feel-good factor to life. We aim to create a keepsake rather than a simple accessory, so we’re constantly looking for new ways to capture the beauty we see around us and evoke an emotion with every piece. For us, it’s all about The Big Reveal. As you unfold your scarf, the colours will expand to reveal a complete story, whether it’s one of our signature city prints or an intricate pattern.
