Born in London's Notting Hill, designer Damaris Evans comes from a long line of creatives, from her Great Grandfather Sir William Rothenstein, principle of the Royal College of Art from 1920- 1935 and her Great Uncle, Sir John Rothenstein, the director of the Tate Gallery between 1938-1964. After studying Fashion Print design at the infamous St Martin's College, Damaris put her ambitions into action and began designing her first lingerie collection from the humble surroundings of her kitchen table with a £5,000 grant courtesy of the Prince's Trust. Now, a decade on, Damaris is the creative director of a British lingerie brand with a retail value in excess of £7.5million and all thanks to her recognition of the exciting gap in the commercial market, for a high-end lingerie brand. Launched in September 2001 the Damaris label immediately began to impact on the future of lingerie worldwide- it is no wonder Tatler named Damaris, 'Queen of lingerie.' With ground breaking designs including the patented, legendary bow back knicker teamed with outstanding entrepreneurial skills Damaris is highly regarded within the fashion and design world. Something that has been recognized with a collection of accolades including Elle Style Award 'Young Enterprise of the Year,' winner of the 'Inspire and Mentor' Marie Claire campaign for the Princes Trust and a personal invitation to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace to mark a celebration of British design. Today, Damaris remains as creative as ever, pushing the design boundaries through collaborations with the likes of Roksanda Ilincic, Vogue Magazine and world renowned film directors including Justin Anderson on the 2010 film 'Chore' and most recently a project with commercials director Johnny Green for the 2012 short film 'Packing Heat' starring supermodel Liberty Ross.Brand Details
